Seems Like Old Times

So I've been freakin' for the past week cause my wedding is only 2 weeks away. Even being a simple city hall can be hectic. I've totally changed gears on my look. I've switched gears from the Rosemary's Baby look to a Seems Like Old Times look. For those of you who don't know this one it stars Goldie Hawn, Chevy Chase and Charles Grodin. The year was 1980 and the look was pure Goldie gold. I couldn't find the picture of the scene where her hair is all pinned up and perfectly messy. You know how she rolls. It's that 80's pinned up bun with tendrils look. I'm wearing this all lace ivory dress(Lauren Moffatt) and it's that faux Victorian look that was really big in the 80's. It resurfaces every couple of seasons but it was really big back then. Think Abby's wedding(to Gary) dress and the party scene in Valley Girl. I got a velvet ribbon for the waist that I can only describe as Marie Antoinette Blue. I'll get back to you on the actual color?

YSL Lip Tint

Story of my life... Of course as soon as I fall in love with a product I find out it has been discontinued. So I stocked up on my favorite lip gloss of the moment.

Wind

So my boyfriend DVRed a movie for me the other night called Wind because it had my other bf Matthew Modine in it. (He's good like that.) I had never heard of it before. It's from 1992. Jennifer Grey costars. Whatever. I do have to say this is the best MM has ever looked. He's kicking a little bit of a tan because he's a yachtsman trying to win the America's Cup. Who cares what it's about... He looks amazing!

Sixteen Candles

I saw Molly Ringwald in Max Brenners on Second Avenue today. This is a major one for me. Sixteen Candles is in my top 5 movies of all time. She's adorable. I didn't recognize her at first. I just thought she was really pretty then I heard her voice and there was no denying.

Pretty In Pink

Is anybody else obsessed with that lipcolor in the new Louis Vuitton ads? It's a pink stain of some sort. If anyone knows what it is please let me know! By the way, I finally found that perfect everyday eyeshadow color. You know when people have the most beautiful eyelid color and you can't tell if it's makeup or their naturally blessed shade? Well I've found my shade. It's (gasp) Maybelline Chai Latte. It's a quad and the "lid" color is perfect. I don't usually buy drugstore eyeshadows because they're never the same as they look in the package. But I took a chance on this one. I've been looking for this for at least 2 years now. I've finally resigned to the fact that I don't look my best in those fun shades of aqua that I'm always drawn to, especially with my platinum hair. So I'm always looking for the perfect browns. Something Pamela Ewing might have worn. But for right now I've found that perfect everyday color and I've been lightening up a bit on the warpaint lately. I have to admit I was inspired by the cover and layout of Gwen Stefani in the February Elle. She looks so pretty and much softer than usual.

White Teeth And All

Okay so make that 28 lipsticks...
I got my teeth whitened yesterday at Vitaldent. I got the new Sapphire technique which is supposed to cut down on sensitivity.
It's amazing! My teeth hurt a little yesterday but are fine today. I highly recommend this place. The $300 promotion won't be lasting too much longer so get over there fast. This price included a checkup which would have cost me $100 anyway. So let's just think of it as a $200 deal. But the cost did not include the take home trays which they really push on you, but I figure I want to keep up this amazing color so I thought what the hell. What's another $100? I am super pleased. I was really nervous about sitting still for an hour with my mouth alll contorted so I did take half a xanax and all was good.
So needless to say, I really needed a new red lipstick to go with my amazing new smile. Vincent Longo Gel-X formula in Coast.
A nice deep red. I haven't worn it yet so I'm not sure how the formala feels. I'll let you know. I also bought the Smashbox primer with the spf and and wrinkle reducers in it. I love the Smashbox primers! They are a little pricey, this one is $42 but they are truly amazing, and one with spf! I'm so excited. Also bought the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream. It's a newer formula that is much better than the old Ultra Facial Moisturizer. I feel like this one sinks right in and stays really even. No shiny spots at the end of the day. And it's only $23!

Let Me Eat Cake

My bf and I went to a new dessert spot tonight called Tisserie. Let's just talk about the cheesecake for a minute. The crust was out of this world. We also shared a chocolate mousse which was really good too but it didn't touch the freakin' cheesecake! I didn't realize the place was so big either. There was an upstairs that looked really cool and modern. But of course it was packed. But we were still able to find seats downstairs. Sometimes this is an impossible feat in NYC. I want to go back and check out the delicious looking savories as well. I also want to give a shout out to the carrot cake at Teany that I finally got to taste. I was wondering what all the fuss was about. My friend Erin hooked me up with some. Unbelievable!

The Good Stuff of 2006

My Boyfriend wanted to do a guest blog-spot because he's too lazy to start his own...

I basically just wanted to go over some shit I was really feeling in 2006.

1. Jeff Koons/Supreme skate deck- Where else can you buy a Jeff Koons piece for under $100.00? First Peter Saville, now Koons? What's next?

2. Keith Haring/Jeremy Scott for Adidas. I'm not a sneaker fag, but I just can't force myself to wear these museum pieces.

3. My Sony 32'' Flat screen. After obsessing for a year, I finally pulled the trigger. With HDTV and HDVR, I am SO ready to get snowed in for a weekend. Football games look INSANE! Go JETS!

4. Brooks Brothers- I suddenly wanted to buy some nice shirts, and became obsessed with Brooks Brothers. They are a little too long, but these things are classics.

5. Lunar Park by Brett Easton Ellis- I slept on the hard back when it came out, but the paperback had me by the nuts from start to finish. Scary and weird. I was having nightmares about Terby.

6. I.D. Magazine- The lifestyle one, not the design one( although thats cool too). I just finished my 5th complete year of not missing an issue. Plenty of back issues as well, but not one missing for 5 years. I keep them all in order and shit, like a good magazine nut should. I still get psyched when I see a new issue on the stand. Sad I know.

7. Factory Records, The Complete Graphic Album- This book is a complete collection of everything Factory Records put out in their too brief history. You talk about putting effort into everything they did, from poster to record sleeve, to club, this shit is outrageous.

8. Arctic Monkeys- I didn't believe the hype either, but when I heard the album, and all the other stuff, I was hooked like a crack head. Wait, maybe this was out in 2005. Either way its bangin innit?

9. 30 Rock- Please God, do not cancel this show. If this goes, while some bullshit with Jim Belushi stays, civilization really is collapsing.

10. Kaws- The Twins and the new Companion. Definite Museum pieces, but only toy heads know what I'm talking about right?

11. Barcelona and Paris- Two places we visited this year, Barca for the first time, Paris for the second. This sounds really cliche, but guess what? We want to go back. Topless beaches in Spain, and wonderfully dreary Parisian afternoons, just relaxin and buggin out all over the city.

12. FTW by Terry Richardson- Another book that Carrie gave me for my birthday. Awesome pictures of kids hangin out in the 80's, all punk rock and stuff. Only 1000 copies out there, and this was not cheap. thanks again.

13. My Grandparents- They died within 24 hours of each other. The funeral director had never seen this happen before in his entire career. Now thats old school love.

New Shoes

Oh, did I mention I was getting hitched? Just a little city hall situation in March. But that doesn't mean I can't have some new shoes. Shoes that make me weep shoes. Chloe shoes. And I got 'em half price. Guess I have to find a dress now. I'm thinking Foley Corinna, Jovovich-Hawke, Mayle, maybe. Something to that effect. Something a little vintage with a slightly victorian feel. So I'm going into major shop mode until I find the perfect piece. I'll be keeping you updated.

Rash Update

So the bumps on my forehead have not budged! Luckily they are not visible to the untrained eye so it's not life shattering. But I do notice I have the same bumps on my upper back so I'm thinking it must be something I'm using in my hair. So I'm discontinuing the Kerastase for a while. It's driving me nuts. So I'm going back to good ol' Aveda. Sap Moss Shampoo and Deep Revitalizing Conditioner.

Good Going Stranger

Rash Alert

So I broke out in bumps all over my forehead. I had to discontinue my Dr. Hauschka regime immediately. I'm not sure what it is yet but apparently I'm allergic to something. I'm back on Purpose soap and Kiehl's Ultra Moisturizer until this whole thing blows over. I'm totally bummed out. I love that stuff. I might try to introduce each product back slowly to see which one is the culprit. I know it's not the rose cream because I've been using that for a long time but I'm still taking a break from it for now.

Naked Heroes

I caught my friends The Naked Heroes play last night at the Delancey. Pure freakin' entertainment. Miss Merica on drums and George on vocals and guitar putting out a wall of rock and hair. I'm completely dazzled by both of them. I can't keep my eyes off Merica's hair the whole time. She's got the best hair in the business; rivaling Robert Plant, Cherie Currie, Rod Stewart and dare I say it- Jennifer Herrima. All big and red and curly. And George is hysterical with the between song banter and taking his shirt off rolling around on the floor. I'm only sorry I forgot the cam last night so unfortunately no pics.

Total Culture Day

Went to Brooklyn Museum to check out the Annie Leibovitz and Ron Mueck exhibits. Ron Hueck does these crazy huge scale and tiny small scale humans that look totally real and creepy. My bf got all mad at me because I didn't see Keri Russell. He was giving me the hurry up tap and not the look but don't act like you're looking celebrity tap and eyebrow twitch. I finally did get a glimpse of her. She's really pretty but I would prefer she not straighten those pretty curls of hers. It is her trademark and she has a responsibility to her fans. Don't forget the Season 2 backlash, Felicity.
Ate at Juniors in Brooklyn for the first time. I've been in there for cheesecake but never sat down and ate a meal. It was really great. There was a bathroom attendant and everything. And she was blasting some hip hop in there too. We split the chocolate mousse cheesecake for dessert. Delish. Came home for a little while to rest. Went to H.L. Pro for a mani. My lady Kelly was off for the night, but Steven did a great job. They let me sit in a massage pedi chair while I waited. I did the Nars Mash this week, my favorite new color-a golden green.
Ran home and immediately left for the city. Went to a screening of John Waters' The Filthy World. Hilarious. He was there doing a q&a afterward. Then we saw Michael Musto on the street afterward. Browsed around the Strand before picking up the new I.D. and coming home.
A Perfect New York Day.

Dr. Hauschka

So I've switched my whole cleansing regime over to Dr. Hauschka products. I bought cleansing cream which is more of a scrub, cleansing milk which smells heavenly and leaves my skin feeling like velvet. I also got the steaming facial bath and a clay mask, which you do once a week. I'm really pleased with all the products. I already use the rose day cream, already a cult product. I've even commited to their philosophy of no night creams. You just spray a little of the facial toner on at night. I read once that Catherine Deneuve also follows this practice of no night cream. If it's good enough for belle de jour! It allows your skin to do it's own renewal, as it's not confused anymore. I was really apprehensive at first thinking my skin would crinkle up like a crocodile, but with the loving care of my new products it adjusted right away.
